Welcome, Judith Wenning!

The Horse in Word and Picture welcomes Judith Wenning, another authority on equine art and a breeder of Straight Egyptian Arabian horses, who agreed to write for the blog’s readers. As the tradition goes, Rania Elsayed (the main author and owner of this blog) asked Wenning to introduce herself.

Judith Wenning (born Judith Wich) has been, for many years, an established name in the world of Arabian horses. She breeds Straight Egyptian Arabian horses at her stud farm Orienta Arabians, located in Bavaria. She has published countless articles in international magazines about Arabian horses and is the author of the book Jewels of the Desert: The Magic of Egyptian Arabians.

Wenning has always been fascinated by the depiction of Arabian horses in art. In recent years, one of the primary focuses of her writing has been on Arabian horse painters and sculptors, both antique and contemporary.

In the summer of 2022, Wenning moved with her family to the magical Five Lakes Region (Fünfseenland) just outside Munich, one of the most beautiful areas in Germany. In that region she noticed the abundance of art galleries and artists, and quickly came up with the idea of establishing a gallery specializing in art and antiques featuring horses—primarily the Arabian breed. Suitable premises for an art gallery were available, and the project soon got underway.

While writing articles about Arabian horses in art, Wenning developed a notable network of galleries, collectors, artists, and more. This made it easy to acquire a fantastic range of extraordinary artworks as a starting point to offer in the new gallery.

Today, Atelier – Fine Arts & Antiques specializes in buying, selling, and researching equine art. The main focus is on Arabian horses—paintings, prints, sculptures, clocks, porcelain, and more—dating to the 19^th century, as well as a few contemporary pieces. Visitors and enthusiasts will find a unique selection across all price ranges, representing the largest available collection of this subject worldwide.
