Prince Mohammed Ali’s Spectacular Appearance at the Jubilee

The celebrations of the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II brought to my mind the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Queen Victoria in which Prince Mohammed Ali Tewfik had participated.
In his book ‘Breeding of Pure Arabian Horses‘, the Prince wrote:

“…and I am proud to say that at Queen Victoria’s Jubilee I made a sensational appearance on my little white Arab horse in the Royal procession.”

Prince Mohammed Ali attended the celebrations, which took place in June 1897, on behalf of his brother Khedive Abbas Hilmi II. The reporters who covered the news of the celebrations could not miss the beauty of the white Arab charger of the Prince “which was greatly admired”.

A photo shows Prince Mohammed Ali mounting his Arabian charger at the departure point of the procession at Buckingham palace.
This image is an excerpt from a British magazine mentioning Prince Mohammed Ali and other royal figures who attended the Jubilee of Queen Victoria.
