Rania Returns to the Art Scene

The news channel Sada al-Balad came to the exhibition to interview the artists, including myself.

The last time my photographs of horses were displayed in public (apart from social media platforms) was in London, UK.

I’ve been photographing Arabian horses and traditional equestrian tournaments since 2018 but posting only a few. I wanted to take my time to develop a personal style in my art that distinguishes my work from other photographers.

Few months ago my friend Hanan, who is an established Ebru artist, told me about an art exhibition organised by the French Embassy in Cairo called Printemps des Artistes. The aim of that exhibition is to help support a charity foundation that looks after street children especially girls and young women. 30% of the sales of each item goes straight to that charity.

Immediately, I decided on submitting my portfolio of the equestrian tradition of Upper Egypt, ‘al-Mirmah’. Although there is another portfolio of Arabian horses, I believed that that of ‘al-Mirmah’ is  more suitable for the exhibition audience. I was right.

I sent a total of 10 works to be considered by the committee.  The best 5 were selected.

The exhibition was held at Villa M by Marakez on the 16th and 17th of May.

I was very nervous on the 16th as it has been years since I’ve exhibited my work in public. But my worries faded with every positive comment and assessment I received for my work.

This is one of my participating fine-art photographs.

The venue was a spectacular showcase of diverse artistic works: paintings, drawings, sculptures and fine-art photography.

I’m grateful to all those who praised my work and encouraged me to organize a solo exhibition to showcase the entire collection of ‘al-Mirmah’.
